Black History Month
SWL will continue to recognize Black History Month this February through classroom lessons and announcement sharing. Below is a link of some resources HWDSB is sharing with educators and families as well. Please feel free to share with your child the importance of this month and recognition.

March 1 Professional Activity Date Change
As you may be aware, a rare total solar eclipse is set to unfold on Monday, April 8, 2024, creating temporary darkness over certain parts of Ontario. Although the eclipse’s trajectory will mostly impact Southern and Eastern Ontario, people outside this trajectory will be able to observe a partial solar eclipse, during which the sun is not hidden in totality. Within our region, it is our understanding the eclipse will begin approximately 2:03 pm and conclude about 4:31 pm, roughly lasting 2 hours and 27 minutes. Out of concern for student safety and well-being, and to mitigate any operational impacts that may be caused by the eclipse, the Board of Trustees has approved the move of our Professional Activity Day scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2024, to Monday, April 8, 2024.
