Safe School Procedures – Drill Tomorrow

Secure Safe School Procedures

Sir Wilfrid Laurier will be practicing a Hold and Secure and a Lockdown drill tomorrow as per Safe School protocols.  Schools practice 2 Lockdowns each year and 1 Hold and Secure.

The term “Lockdown” is used when there is an incident or threat of serious violence or injury within the school.  During a Lockdown students will hear an announcement as follows: “This is a Lockdown”.  During this time, students remain in their class away from doors and windows and remain quiet until further notice.  No visitors may enter the building during this time.  During a Hold and Secure drill students remain working in their classrooms.  Students, staff and visitors do not enter or exit the building in a Hold & Secure.

Students and visitors must not enter or exit the building until the specific drill is complete.  We will post signs on our main doors for any visitors entering the premises so they are aware we are currently practicing one of these drills.
