Principal Announcement

Dear Families,

It is with mixed emotions that I share the following announcement with the community.  After 30 years with the HWDSB, I have made the decision to retire.  The last several years in education have been difficult.  From labour disruptions, to the world pandemic and the introduction of remore learning, bringing together the two school communities and now the pandemic recovery, education has never seen a time like this.  It has been an honour to have supported staff, students and the greater SWL community through these challenging times.

As I reflect on my time here, I can say that I am very proud of how the school has thrived, despite the barriers faced.  The building itself has seen a refresh with new furniture, new windows and doors, improvements to the gymnasium and classroom learning environments and the Kindergarten Playground artificial turf install.  The courtyard was given a facelift and is a space that is used and loved by staff and students alike.  During the past 3 years, the focus has been on not only providing rich educational experiences, but also a focus on the mental well-being of the students we serve.  Thank you to the team of amazing team of educators at SWL who made this a priority.

I am happy to announce that Mrs. Kelly Reilly-Scott will be taking my place as Principal of SWL.  Mrs. Reilly-Scott is coming from Gatestone School where she has successfully led the past 4 years.  Prior to that, Mrs. Reilly-Scott was at R.L. Hyslop and Eastdale Schools.  Before coming to the HWDSB, she was an educator in the Halton District School Board.

I will be working with Mrs. Reilly-Scott, along with Ms. Stafford, to ensure a smooth transition for the school.  My last day at SWL will be on Friday, December 23 and Mrs. Reilly-Scott will start here on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Wishing you all continued success at SWL!

Sincerely,

Mr. Moore
