SWL Halloween 2022

Dear Family,

Understanding that not all families recognize or celebrate Halloween, many students do enjoy this special day at school.

Halloween will be recognized and celebrated on Monday, October 31 at SWL.

• Students are invited to wear a costume to school OR orange, black and/or purple
• Costumes must be worn all day as we have limited space in washrooms and changerooms are closed
• No masks allowed please
• While we discourage make-up, if make-up is part of the costume, it must be applied in the morning prior to coming to school
• As the costume will be worn all day, please ensure the costume is appropriate for going outside at Nutrition Break and comfortable for Physical Education class, if applicable
• Please leave all costume props at home (wands, brooms, swords, etc)
• Please feel free to send in a special treat for your child to enjoy
• If sharing treats, please ensure snacks are store purchased with No Nuts/Nut Free clearly labelled on the packaging
• Parents are asked to send in all costumes/treats, etc at the beginning of the day to avoid drop offs and disruptions to the school day
• Ensure costumes are appropriate for school (e.g., no cultural appropriation, no offensive or insensitive costumes, no weapons, etc)

The day for our students will consist of all students being offered the opportunity to go to the gym for a Halloween Dance/movement break. Students in Grades 4-8 can purchase treats that
our Student Leadership groups will be selling. Students not wishing to take part will have games or other activities offered to them as an alternative.

We will not be holding a Halloween Parade as students will be involved in the Halloween Dance and classroom-based activities. Please review with the school expectations for Halloween. We appreciate your attention to our protocols.

Happy Halloween!
