Secure Safe School Procedures

Each year, schools are required to hold a variety of drills so that we are prepared for an emergency.  Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary will be holding 6 fire drills this year, 1 evacuation drill, 1 Shelter in Place drill, 1 Hold and Secure drill, and 2 lockdown drills.  Our Evacuation Location is St. Luke’s School, located at 345 Albright Road.

We typically announce the first Fire Drill to staff and students and pre-announce both Lockdown Drills.  All other drills are unannounced so we can help better prepare students and staff in the event of a real emergency.  We have completed 2 Fire Drills already and will be conducting our first Secure School Drill this week (Hold and Secure).

One of the two Lockdown drills will occur in the coming weeks and the second will be held in the spring.  The remaining drills will occur throughout the fall.   The Principal/Vice-Principal and teachers will review important safety procedures for students prior to beginning the drill.
