Halloween Activies

We have recently received direction from Public Health to help us make decisions around Halloween activities in schools.  Understanding that not all families recognize or celebrate Halloween, many students do enjoy this special day at school.

Due to Covid guidelines, it is important that families recognize and follow these procedures so we can still continue to enjoy this celebration, albeit a little different than what we are all used to.

On Friday, October 29, our costume guidelines are:

  • Students can come to school in the morning in their costume
  • As the costume will be worn all day, please ensure the costume is appropriate for going outside at Nutrition Break and comfortable for Physical Education, class if applicable
  • Costume masks are not substitutes for face coverings.  No masks or face coverings are allowed this year so students can continue to wear their non-medical mask
  • Please leave all costume props at home (wands, broom, swords, etc)
  • While we discourage make-up, especially due to the wearing of masks, if you choose to use costume make-up, it must be applied in the morning prior to coming to school
  • Please feel free to send in a special treat for your child to enjoy
  • For those who don’t want to wear a costume, you are invited to wear black and orange
  • Ensure costumes are appropriate for school (e.g., no cultural appropriation, no offensive or insensitive costumes, no weapons, etc.)

Please DO NOT

  • come to school to drop off items during the school day (food, costumes, snacks)
  • send any make-up to school
  • send in treats/goodie bags for your child to share with others.  While we appreciate your generosity, we want to limit the number of items students will be handling

As a reminder, there will be no Halloween Parade or cross cohorting of classes.

Please have a conversation with your child regarding these new regulations for Halloween.  Although it will be on a smaller scale, we are happy to be able to recognize the day this year.
