Transition of Students to New Glen School and Sir Wilfrid Laurier – September 2021

To parents & guardians of students at Elizabeth Bagshaw, Glen Brae, Glen Echo, Sir Isaac Brock, and Sir Wilfrid Laurier

As part of the East Hamilton Accommodation Review, the new Kindergarten to Grade 8 elementary school being built beside Glen Brae is nearing completion. This new school is scheduled to open in September 2021 and will accommodate students at Glen Brae, Glen Echo, Sir Isaac Brock, Elizabeth Bagshaw (Zone 4) and Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Zone 3). Students residing within Elizabeth Bagshaw (Zone 5) will transfer to Sir Wilfrid Laurier in September 2021.

Once students transfer to the new school and Sir Wilfrid Laurier School, Glen Brae, Glen Echo, Sir Isaac Brock, and Elizabeth Bagshaw will close.

1. In the new year, two committees will be formed with representation from all impacted schools to engage in two important processes:
   Transition Planning Committee – will help guide plans for a smooth transition of students to their new schools;
2. School Naming Committee – will provide the Board of Trustees with recommendations for naming the new school at the Glen Brae site.
