Halloween Update

“Halloween is a fun time of year, especially for children and neighbourhoods. Because of COVID-19, we are encouraging people to be innovative in how they celebrate and be very mindful of public health guidance around how to reduce transmission of COVID. ”   ~Dr. Richards, Medical Officer of Health

In response to the direction from health professionals, Sir Wilfrid Laurier School will be celebrating Halloween differently this year.  In lieu of costumes, staff and students are invited to wear Black and Orange to show their school spirit.    Throughout the day, various classrooms may also be engaging in some special activities that are safe within all Public Health/HWDSB protocols.

For this special day, families are encouraged to provide a special treat(s) along with/in their children’s lunch to celebrate this special day.  Please note that these treats will be for your child only and no sharing between students is allowed.  A reminder that all our school is Nut Safe and no nut products are to be sent to school.

As a reminder, please do not send or drop off any items (snacks/treats, etc) as they cannot be shared.

We understand that this news may be disappointing for some students/families, but under the guidance from public health and our school staff, we feel this is the best decision for the health and safety of our school.
