Welcome to School Council’s: An Open Invitation
Every school in Ontario is required to have a School Council to work collaboratively with the principal to improve student achievement and to enhance accountability of the school with parents. Information about School Councils can be found here: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/general/elemsec/council/
We welcome all parents/guardians who are willing to volunteer their time to participate on our School Council for the 2024-2025 school year.
What is the School Council?
School Council is an important part of Shannen Koostachin Elementary. It provides a forum through which members can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance. Our council is made up of elected parents, a Teacher Representative, and Principal Maria Marino.
Working in an advisory capacity, we provide input and make recommendations to the school Principal on a wide range of topics. Examples of areas that may require consultation with the School Council include provincial test results, student code of conduct and parental involvement, and student safety.
