December Update and Happy Holidays!

Thanks to everyone in the Rousseau community for working together to make 2019 a great year for our school. As a staff we have been working on improving our learning on two aspects of our School Improvement Plan: Positive School Culture/ Well-being and Student Achievement. As a part of all HWDSB schools, we are specifically focussed on improving student learning around Kindergarten – Grade 1 reading and improvement in math achievement for our Grade 4-6 classes. Our learning around Positive School Culture/ Well-being focusses on student connected-ness and helping students feel welcome, safe and included at Rousseau. At our most recent PD Day on November 29 this meant reviewing and extending our learning around bullying awareness and prevention. Two action items that will be reflected in the new year include using bullying reporting boxes in classrooms and increasing student awareness around the buddy benches on our playgrounds. We believe that these strategies are some of the steps that we can take to support our students sense of belonging and safety at Rousseau.

We continue to be grateful for the amazing support of our Rousseau families! We feel very fortunate to be in a community that works together so that our students can achieve their best and are excited about coming to school every day.

We hope that the holiday season provides you with time to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. We look forward to having a great new year together. All the best!
