Rousseau Food Drive: February 25th – 28th
Student council will be organizing this year’s Rousseau Food Drive, starting this coming Monday, February 25th. This is our Rousseau community contribution to the Ancaster Community Food Drive.
Starting Monday, families are asked to consider sending donations to school with their child:
- grocery gift card, which Ancaster Community Services will use to purchase fresh food for their Good Food Box Program (Fortinos, Food Basics, Sobey’s, Longo’s). Families can also donate online to Ancaster Community Services for the Good Food Box Program
- non-perishable food items (canned food or packages of dry goods)
Non-perishable items from our drive/the Ancaster Community food drive are distributed to the following organizations that provide emergency food: Ancaster: Ancaster Community Services & Hamilton: Good Shepherd Centre, Neighbour to Neighbour, Mission Services of Hamilton, St. Matthew’s House, the Salvation Army and Wesley Urban Ministries, as well as smaller agencies in the Emergency Food Network in Hamilton.

Jam | pancake mix & maple syrup |
Condiments – ketchup, mayonnaise | Baby food & formula (at least 8 weeks to expiry date) |
Instant coffee | Rice, dry beans & lentils |
Baking supplies | Canned meats & fish |
Mr. Noodles | Hot cereal of any kind |
canned or powdered milk | peanut butter |
meat soups | dry pasta |
(Ancaster Community Services Food Bank reports being low on these items)
* VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED by Ancaster Community Food Drive to load up the trucks on Saturday March 2nd 2 – 6 P.M. to the Food Serving Agencies Trucks at Ancaster Fairgrounds. Please contact [email protected] or see www.ancasterfooddrive.ca.
