Fire Damage to Outdoor Shed

Dear Rousseau families,

On the evening of January 3, there was a fire that resulted in extensive damage to the outdoor Kindergarten shed. No one was injured during this event. Police and Fire Department personnel were on site and communicated with Board facilities staff. We hope to have the area cleaned up as soon as possible and continue to meet with Board staff to determine next steps.

Destruction to school property is upsetting because it disrespects the hard work that all of us do to support our students and their need to feel safe and welcomed at school. It is at this time where I like to remind myself about all of the great things that happen at Rousseau because of the amazing culture that we continue to build collaboratively. We are incredibly grateful for the support that has already started through our community and will be discussing with School Council the best course to take.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for your patience as we begin a new year at Rousseau.
