Suspected Gas Smell – Evacuation

At approximately 10:50 a gas smell was detected in the hallway of Rousseau School. As per HWDSB policy, Hamilton Emergency Services were called and the school was evacuated. Since this happened at the first nutrition break, there was no loss to instructional time and students were safely outside. After thorough checking, Hamilton Fire Department determined that the school was safe for re-entry and the students and staff entered the school to complete the nutrition break and resume the rest of the day.
