Families staying in the Remote Learning Program

Dear families,

We want to thank you for your continued enrolment in the Remote Elementary Learning Program.

We wanted to let you know that because of the transition option for families in February, we will be welcoming approximately 600 new students into the Remote Elementary Learning Program. We will also be saying goodbye to approximately the same number of students choosing to return to school.

Unlike October, the current transition will not be a full reorganization. All current classes will remain with the current structure. To handle an increase in students in our higher grades, additional sections will be added to our Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8 programs.

No staff moves are planned as part of the transition other than the hiring of new teachers for the additional sections. However, the Remote Learning Program has over 450 educators and regular staffing occurrences such as medical and emergency leaves are ongoing.

During the week of February 8 – 12th, new students from current in-school placements will start in their new remote classes. To assist with the safe return of students to in-person classes, students returning to school will not be moved to the week of February 22-25. While current students will not have to move to new classes during this program, it will mean that class sizes fluctuate for a couple of weeks.

Term 1 Report Cards will be sent home electronically on Friday February 19th. It is very important that you have a current email on file with the school and that you have School Messenger set to accept emails.

If you have any specific questions about these changes, please visit our contact the school page for contact information.

Sincerely,

Tannis Hamill
Principal, Grades 1-3

Vera Prpa
Principal, Grades 4-8

Mubina Panju
Principal, Kindergarten, French Immersion and Programs of Choice
