SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
HWDSB is running free summer school programs for kids in SK to Grade 8 in July and August (dates dependent on program). Parents will need to register students for a program offered in their age group. Some examples are listed below:

- Camp Power – Senior (Y2) Kindergarten and Grade 1 (August)
- Camp CLIMB (Create Learn Inspire Motivate Believe) – Grade 2 to 6 (August)
- Camp CLIMB ELL – Grade 2 to 6 English Language Learners (Stages 1, 2 and 3) (August)
- Activity and Sports based camps – Grade 6-8 – both online and at locations across HWDSB. Programs run in one-week sessions from July 10 to August 11, morning and afternoon options are available
- The Summer ESL Literacy Program supports our Day School ESL/ELL programs and helps students continue to improve their English language acquisition during the summer.
- Summer International Language Programs provide an opportunity for students in Elementary School to develop and/or maintain the ability to speak, listen, read, and write in a new language or the language of their heritage (Arabic, Korean, Kurdish, Tamil, Urdu – July & August).

CREDIT EARNING FOR GRADE 8’s going into grade 9:
Summer Reach Ahead programs provide Grade 8 students an opportunity to earn their compulsory Civics and/or Careers courses during the summer before Grade 9. Participating in Summer Reach Ahead programs helps to keep your student learning and engaged through the summer and enhances the transition experience for Grade 8 students as they move to Secondary School. New in 2023 – courses will be available in both English and French Eligibility:
Current Grade 8 students are eligible to take either course or both.
Civics CHV2O3 (1/2 Credit) July 5-17, 2023
Careers GLC2O3 (1/2 Credit) July 18-28, 2023
