Practice Drills

The term “Shelter in Place” is used when there is an environmental or weather-related situation, where it is necessary to keep all occupants within the building to protect them (e.g. chemical spill).  People enter and remain in the building.  As part of our Secure School Protocol, the staff and students practice these drills throughout the school year. Prior to each drill, teachers will have age appropriate discussions regarding the drill and their expectations. To ensure that there is no confusion, these rehearsals are clearly identified as drills via an announcement.  We have planned a Shelter in Place Drill for Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

Please contact the school if you have any further questions regarding the Secure School Protocol procedures at R.A. Riddell.
