PA Day – Friday September 19

Tomorrrow is a PA Day and there is no school for students.

Terry Fox Run – Friday September 26

On Friday, September 26 Lincoln Alexander School will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Run!  Terry Fox had a dream to find a cure for cancer.  Even though we are not there yet, his dream lives on and we can make a difference by giving to this worthy cause.  Our school has participated in this event for over 20 years!  We are hoping that each family can make an online donation at:  https://schools.terryfox.ca/LincolnAlexanderSchHamilton

If you prefer, you are welcome to send a “Toonie for Terry” on the day of the run.  Last year we raised over $1000!  Together, our school community can help fund cancer research and support Terry’s dream!

The run will take place at the back of the school.  It is also our first Spirit Day of the year, so please wear red and white in honour of Terry and Canada.  Remember to dress appropriately for the weather and bring a water bottle.  The rain date will be September 29.

Parking

Why are 11 parking spaces in our west parking lot blocked off?  In response to the tragic incident at a child care centre in Richmond Hill recently, the Minister of Education has issued this communication to the child care community:

All licensed child care centres in Ontario are to prevent the use of parking spaces that pose a risk to children’s safety: Any parking spaces that are directly adjacent to child care facilities (e.g., entryways, playgrounds, exterior walls of program rooms, windows, or areas where children gather), with the exception of accessible spaces, should be blocked off and not used until additional safety measures have been put in place.

We are a school with a full-day child care program operated by Umbrella Family Childcare Centres.

Facilities Services will be conducting a review of all schools with full-day child care programs to develop a more permanent solution. In the meantime, you can also use the parking lot on the east side of the school or use street parking.  Please do not compromise safety for convenience!

Please do not park in the signed handicapped accessible parking spaces unless you have a visible permit.

Popcorn

Popcorn Tuesday will be starting back up as of September 30th and will be available to purchase every Tuesday with the following options:

White Cheddar
Butter Salt
Dill Pickle
Sweet & Salty

Parents and caregivers are asked to make their purchases using SchoolCashOnline.com: Welcome for the entire month. Each week can be purchased separately. Please make your selection for each week in the month.

Orders are due by Friday, September 26th.  You can also order and pay with debit card or credit card at the school office.
