Lincoln Alexander Community October Updates
I can hardly believe that our first month of school has come and gone, and we are already well into the month of October. What a busy couple of months it has been! Some of our highlights include:
Terry Fox Fundraiser: The whole school participated in the walk/run “working together to outrun cancer”. Thanks to our school community for their donations as we collected $284.50 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Sports Teams: Our students participated in HWDSB’s annual Cross Country meet in October and had a great time! Swim Team practices and Volleyball are also taking place this month. Many thanks to our dedicated staff for taking the time to coach our various sports teams and provide our students with these valuable athletic opportunities!
Picture Day: Edge Imaging was at the school on October 5th for Picture Day. Your child’s class pictures will be coming home shortly – all orders are due back to the school by October 30, 2018. If your child was absent on Picture Day or you would like to redo their pictures, Retake Day has been scheduled for Friday, November 9, 2018.
School Council: Our next School Council Meeting is taking place on Thursday, October 25th at 6:00 pm in Lincoln Alexander’s Staff Room – all are welcome to attend. Hope to see you there!
Food Days: Milk and Pizza sales have started again this year. Milk (chocolate & white) can be purchased daily during Nutrition Break # 2 for $8.00/strip of 10 tickets or individually for $1.00 each. Pizza is also on sale every Friday for $2.00 a slice. New this year, we will be offering Lunch Lady as an option every Tuesday – all orders are to be done online and submitted 2 days prior to our food day. LINC Assembly: Our next student celebration assembly is taking place on October 30th at 11:00 am in the school gym. All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend!
Progress Reports and Parent/Caregiver – Teacher Conferences: Progress Reports will be sent home with students on Tuesday, October 30th and Parent/Caregiver -Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 – a letter from your child’s teacher will be coming home shortly, or may have already been sent home about this. This important dialogue between home and school is a key part of your child’s learning process. As a part of the regular conferencing between parents and teachers, we will be offering interview times at our school so that each parent has an opportunity to discuss in person their child’s progress as outlined in the Elementary Progress Report. This will be an excellent time to celebrate success and discuss future goals for our students.
