Summer Program Summary – 2023

CE – 2023 Summer Programs Brochure v4

Dear Families,

The following information was sent from HWDSB Continuing Education Department.

Registration for Summer Programs went live on April 1st, and Continuing Education is already seeing students register. 

Registration for students is fully online and can be accessed through the Continuing Education website (https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/cce/).

 These program opportunities include:

Summer International Language NON-CREDIT Programs(Grades JK – 8)

These programs provide an opportunity for students in Elementary School to develop / maintain the ability to speak, listen, read, and write in languages other than English and French. Available languages this summer include Arabic Simplified Chinese, German, Kurdish, Tamil, and Urdu. Programs run in-person at various locations.

Summer Skill Builder NON-CREDIT (Grades 6 – 10)

One-week programs that focus on Literacy or Numeracy skill development. The programs are designed as Activity or Sport based camps that are offered both in-person (various locations) or online. 

Summer ESL NON-CREDIT Literacy (Grades 6 – 12)

A program for students to strengthen literacy skills. The registration process requires students to connect with their school staff and meet literacy requirements. Students can register for a particular location (Bernie Custis or Nora F. Henderson S.S.)

Reach Ahead CREDIT Online Program (Grade 8)

Students entering Grade 9 in September 2023 are eligible to earn their compulsory Civics and/or Careers credit(s). NEW this Summer, CE has added a French Immersion Civics / Careers option.

Summer School CREDIT Online Programs (Grades 9 – 12, Adults)

This program provides students with the opportunity to earn a credit from a wide selection of courses. Courses will be delivered virtually and will include a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning for students.
