May Madness Fundraiser Update: On behalf of School Council and our Gordon Price Staff we would like to thank those who were able to donate and/or volunteer during our May Madness fundraiser this year! We earned over $1700!

A portion of these proceeds will go towards installing basketball nets on our back playground, along with purchasing new outdoor equipment for our students (i.e. soccer balls, scoops, frisbees, basketballs etc.). Our goal is to promote active and cooperative play, so that all students are safely engaged and having fun during Nutrition Break.

Thanks for helping to make this fun afternoon a huge success!

Little Ray’s Nature Centre Presentations: On June 11th Little Ray’s Nature Centre will be coming to the Gordon Price school library for a unique science experience for our Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 1/2 classes. Students from these classes will get to observe many types of critters including snakes and other reptiles. This means that these reptiles, amphibians and small mammals, will be safely housed in our school library  from 11:10 am – 1:10 am. Please let the office know if your child has any allergies to a specific animal, so that we can ensure a safe learning space for all students.

Lost & Found: Our Lost and Found still has many items left behind, and is ready for another clean out! Items will be laid out during the last week of school for student viewing. Any items left over at the end of the month will be donated to charity. Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any missing articles.

Report Cards and Class Assignments:  Report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024. If you have any questions and/or would like to discuss the report card, please contact your child’s teacher by the last day of classes. Once again, this year, information about students’ class placements will be shared the week before school begins starting on Monday, August 26th, 2024 via the Parent Portal. Families may also call the school during this week for more information.

New to Kindergarten and Year 2 Kindergarten – September 2024:  On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, all children new to kindergarten and/or the school will be invited in for a short visit with a caregiver (invite to follow from classroom teachers) – year 2 kindergarten students do not attend school on this day. On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, all children new to kindergarten begin full day attendance and all children entering year 2 of kindergarten begin full day attendance.

After School Dismissal and Playground Procedures: It has been a longstanding tradition for students and families to gather at the basketball court and/or the Shawinigan Park play area beside the school upon dismissal, and after school hours, however, a few concerns about student safety have been brought to our attention recently.

While we welcome families to enjoy this time of community we are asking for your help and support to enhance student safety in the following ways:

  1. Gordon Price staff are on duty to supervise safe dismissal of students on the school hardtop area from 2:50 – 3:05 pm.
  2. All students must have an adult, who is responsible for them while at the basketball court or at the Shawinigan Park play area, directly after school dismissal (from 2:50 pm – 3:05 pm). Independent walkers are to walk straight home if an adult is not here after school to supervise them at the basketball court or the Shawinigan Park playground.
  3. Students need to comply with all school expectations while still on school property. This includes, but is not limited to, any type of physical contact, including games of tackle and wrestling, hitting with sticks, and pushing or shoving.
  4. The school hardtop, Daycare/Kindergarten fenced in area and the field directly beside the school hardtop, are reserved for Umbrella After School Care use, from 2:50 pm – 3:50 pm.
  5. Once students are dismissed from the building, they may not re-enter the building for personal needs, including drinks and restroom visits.

Thanks in advance,

Gordon Price Staff
