May Madness Fundraiser Update: On behalf of School Council and our Gordon Price Staff we would like to thank those who were able to donate and/or volunteer during our May Madness fundraiser this year! We earned $1967.82!

A portion of these proceeds will go towards repainting the lines on our back playground, along with continuing to renew outdoor play equipment for our students (i.e. soccer balls, volleyballs, basketballs etc.). Our goal is to promote active and cooperative play, so that all students are safely engaged and having fun during Nutrition Break.

Thanks for helping to make this fun afternoon a huge success!

Little Ray’s Nature Centre Presentations: On Friday, June 13th Little Ray’s Nature Centre will be coming to the Gordon Price school library for a unique science experience for our Kindergarten, grade 1, grade 1/2, grade 2 and grade 2/3 classes. Students from these classes will get to observe many types of critters including snakes and other reptiles. This means that these reptiles, amphibians and small mammals, will be safely housed in our school library  from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Please let the office know if your child has any allergies to a specific animal, so that we can ensure a safe learning space for all students.

Jump Rope for Heart – Friday, June 13, 2025: Our school is excited to participate in Jump Rope for Heart, a fantastic fundraiser that promotes physical activity, healthy habits, and community spirit. By raising funds, we will support crucial heart and brain research through Heart & Stroke.

Let’s come together as a school community to demonstrate our generosity and commitment to a great cause! Visit our fundraising page here: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/86626.

A special thank you to Ms. Clark and Ms. Maas for their dedication in organizing this important event!

Report Cards and Class Assignments:  Report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025. If you have any questions and/or would like to discuss the report card, please contact your child’s teacher by the last day of classes. Once again, this year, information about students’ class placements will be shared the week before school begins starting on Monday, August 25th, 2025 via the Parent Portal. Families may also call the school during this week for more information.

New to Kindergarten and Year 2 Kindergarten – September 2025:  On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, all children new to kindergarten and/or the school will be invited in for a short visit with a caregiver (invite to follow from classroom teachers) – year 2 kindergarten students do not attend school on this day. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, all children new to kindergarten begin full day attendance and all children entering year 2 of kindergarten begin full day attendance.

After School Dismissal and Playground Procedures: It has been a longstanding tradition for students and families to gather at the Shawinigan Park playground area or the city basketball court beside the school, upon dismissal and after school hours. However, we are continuing to receive concerns regarding student behaviour and safety.

While we encourage families to enjoy this community time, we kindly ask for your cooperation to enhance student safety in the following ways:

  1. Supervision During Dismissal:  Gordon Price staff will be on duty to supervise the safe dismissal of students on the hardtop area from 2:50 – 3:05 pm.
  2. Adult Supervision Required:  All students must have an adult responsible for them while at the Shawinigan Park playground area, or basketball court beside the school, after school dismissal at 2:50 pm. Parents/caregivers are responsible for supervising their children. Independent walkers should head straight home if an adult is not present to supervise them on the playground or at the basketball court.
  3. Compliance with School Expectations:  Students must adhere to all school rules while on school property, at the park, or on the basketball court. This includes refraining from physical contact activities such as tackle games, wrestling, hitting with sticks, pushing or shoving, and using any swearing or profanity.
  4. Designated Play Areas:  Students may only play at the Shawinigan Park playground area or the basketball court beside the school. The hardtop, Kindergarten fenced-in area, and the field directly beside the hardtop are reserved for YWCA After School Care use from 2:50 pm – 3:50 pm.
  5. Building Re-entry:  Once students are dismissed from the building, they may not re-enter for personal needs, including drinks and restroom visits.

Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our students safe.
