Safe Arrival and Dismissal: Our school day begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m. Gordon Price staff are on duty to supervise safe arrival of students on the back-playground area from 8:15 – 8:30 a.m. and dismissal from 2:50 – 3:05 p.m.

Please drop off your children at school before 8:30 a.m. so that they have enough time to walk to the back playground and line up with their classes for safe entry. Thanks in advance for helping to ensure that your child arrives to school on time and ready to start their day in a positive way!

If you are picking up your child at the end of the day please ensure that you are here promptly at 2:50 p.m.

PD Day & Total Solar Eclipse: A reminder that Monday, April 8th is a PD Day – so there will be no school for students.  As you may also be aware, a rare total solar eclipse is set to unfold on Monday, April 8, 2024, creating temporary darkness over certain parts of Ontario. Within our region, it is our understanding the eclipse will begin at approximately 2:03 pm and conclude about 4:31 pm, roughly lasting 2 hours and 27 minutes. HWDSB in partnership with McMaster University will be providing solar eclipse viewers for all HWDSB students. Gordon Price students will be bringing home their solar eclipse viewers on Friday, April 5th.

Solar eclipse viewers must meet the international standard ISO 12312-2 for safe viewing. Looking directly at the Sun with the naked eye or through any device or filter other than ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses may cause permanent damage and even blindness. Families are reminded to make sure that the glasses are not damaged or scratched before use. Instructions for use can be found on the back side of the solar eclipse viewers. It is important that students are monitored closely by parents/guardians if they want to use the glasses to view the Eclipse.

For more about this Solar Eclipse and how to view safely please see the attached and visit the following site:

School Council: Our next School Council Meeting is taking place on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 pm in the Gordon Price Library – all are welcome to attend. Hope to see you there!

International Day of Pink: On Wednesday, April 10, 2024 students, staff and people around the globe are encouraged to wear pink to take a stand against bullying. Wearing a pink shirt or something pink is one small but powerful way for us to show that we stand together against bullying of all kinds and that it has no place in our schools and communities. Please remember to wear pink on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.

Spring Open House: Save the Date – Gordon Price Staff look forward to inviting families to our Open House & Math/Literacy Night on Thursday, May 9 from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.  There will be more details and information to come over the next couple of weeks, but be sure to mark this date on your calendar.

Lost & Found: Our Lost and Found is once again over-flowing, and ready for a clean out! Items will be laid out during Open House for student and parent viewing. Any items left over at the end of the month will be donated to charity. Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any missing articles.

Snack Program – Our healthy Snack Program continues into April. The goal of our snack program is to support learning and healthy development. Nutritious food helps kids learn and focus.  Healthy snacks (i.e. apples, yogurt tubes, cheese strings, carrots, muffins etc.) are available to students throughout the school day, as needed!
