January Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

A new year is a great opportunity for fresh beginnings and new adventures. We hope 2023 will be as productive and exciting as 2022 was at Franklin Road. Our staff would like to thank you for sending your child to school ready to learn and for your ongoing support in many areas including volunteering on trips, fundraising, school council, following up on homework and reading with your children!

This month I would like to share some reminders:

• Winter has arrived and students should come to school dressed for the weather. All students will be participating in outdoor activities every day, whether at nutrition break, DPA or physical education time, so they need to have a warm coat, boots, a hat and mitts/gloves. We encourage students to bring snow pants too.
• We have a rapidly growing Lost and Found bin this month! If your child comes home without an item of clothing, footwear, or a water bottle please let the teacher know as soon as possible and they will send the student to the Lost and Found to retrieve the item.
• Mornings and after school are busy times at Franklin Road. Just a reminder, the front of the school is a bus drop off and loading zone and clearly marked with signs. Please refrain from stopping or parking there. We encourage families to park on a side street and walk their child to the school for safety.
• During the school day, pets are not permitted on school property.
• At Franklin Road, smoking cannabis or tobacco and vaping any substance is prohibited anywhere on school property and in public areas within 20 metres of the perimeter of the school grounds. Fines start at $305.
• This winter we continue to see a variety of illnesses spread through our school community and we encourage all families to keep students home when they are not feeling well.

• Friday, January 27^th is a PA day and there is no school for students.
