Relive Showcase of heARTS 2023
As the curtain closes on a successful Showcase of heARTS, Hamilton Foundation for Student Success (HFSS) and Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) would like to thank and congratulate the student performers, staff, guests and sponsors who contributed to making the evening a success.
As one of HFSS’s first in-person events since the pandemic, excitement filled McIntyre Theatre as guests watched students share their talents live on stage. Excitement was also felt backstage with students putting on the finishing touches on their performances and cheering vibratingly for other acts.
Student talent was everywhere throughout the building, and was shared through various mediums including song, dance, music and art. From an impressive Hairspray performance from Audition-Based Programs of the Arts students, to the captivating visual arts montages from students across HWDSB, there was something to enjoy for everyone in the audience.
“It is always incredible to see the quality of performances that students bring to the Showcase of heARTS stage,” said Executive Director of HFSS, Amy Leaming Cote. “The student talent speaks to the commitment from HWDSB staff in helping students prepare for the show. Behind the glitz and glamour, staff put in hours of after school rehearsals to ensure the evening is a success. Thank you for encouraging students to share their gifts!”
As always, the purpose of Showcase of heARTS is to celebrate student talent while raising funds for HWDSB students. HFSS is proud to share that thanks to the generosity of the community, Showcase of heARTS 2023 was able to raise roughly $58,000 for HWDSB students! This money will help fund Student Support Grants, which provide financial assistance to HWDSB students for school-related expenses and basic personal needs.
“Most importantly, the funds raised from our generous supporters will translate to more opportunities for students so they can thrive in school and in life,” said Amy. Showcase of heARTS was a night of giving and inspiration, and we are so thankful for the HFSS community in helping make a difference!”
