Remembrance Day Observance at DVSS

Dear DVSS Community,

We have been trying to firm up the best way to recognize Remembrance Day for this year and with Ms. Craven’s retirement, our go to school advisor is not longer with us.
Additionally, with the current global environment, we want to ensure that we not only recognize the contributions of those who have served for Canada, but also all of those who have fought for peace and freedom around the world.

Our plan at this point is to have an announcement at 10:30 (lunch begins at 10:40 and runs through the customary 11 O’clock hour) during which we will hear from Mr. Fraser about the history of Remembrance Day and the service and sacrifice of many in support of peace and freedom. This will be followed by a reading of In Flander’s Field, the Last Post, and a moment of silence.

With that said, please be mindful of how this observance may cause emotions to rise with some. If a student needs support, the office or guidance is always available.

Sincerely,
The DVSS Administration Team
