Lockdown response at DVSS
Dear Dundas Valley Secondary School community,
Our school entered a Lockdown at about 10:30 a.m. today after a physical altercation between two individuals from our school raised the possibility of further conflict.
We take student safety very seriously and entered lockdown to ensure that students and staff would be safe in classrooms, and police could quickly respond to the matter.
Lockdown is a secure schools status that is defined as a restriction of movement during the time of a potentially serious violent threat or incident. Doors remain open to permit police immediate entry.
Hamilton Police quickly responded and investigated. They lifted our secure schools response at about 10:45 a.m. Students and staff were all safe.
My thanks go out to our community of students, staff, parents and volunteers who make DVSS a great place to be. We appreciate your understanding after a challenging morning.
Sincerely,
Gail Cipriani
Principal
