Central Weekly Update – January 17-21, 2022

Central Families,

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we have worked together through a difficult start to 2022.
We are happy to welcome everyone back to school on January 17 and look forward to seeing all students that are healthy and ready to return. We will be closely monitoring at entry each day and any students demonstrating any of the symptoms will be asked to follow the outlined procedures. All student must wear a mask and schools are being provided with 3-ply cloth masks for students as soon as possible. Please review the importance of wearing masks and how to wear it properly with your child.  Each student will also receive 2 Rapid Anitgen Test kits as soon as they are available to us and these are to be used at home ONLY when individuals are symptomatic.  PCR tests will only be sent home with students that become symptomatic at school and are required to isolate.  Please be sure to review all of the information below. A reminder that all devices that were loaned out to students are to be returned on Monday, January 17. This includes all cubes, cables, chargers and cases.  Please be sure to put your child’s first and last name and the name of their teacher on the device using a post it or a piece of paper with tape. Students can report to their classrooms with these labelled devices and we will collect first thing. This will allow us to  utilize our devices in school as there are not many to go around. Devices that are not returned will be locked by the tech department in the next few days. Those families choosing the short term virtual option will need to contact the school to discuss the option of keeping the device. (905 522 9690)
To protect our school community from COVID19, our emphasis going forward will be on rigorous screening. The updated screen is attached and linked here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
Please also find attached a calendar 1.01B – Daily COVID-19 Screening Verification Log (1) (paper copy went home in December) that will need to be signed each day to verify that your student(s) have completed the screen every morning before coming to school. Some students with devices may show their teacher that they have passed the screener instead of using the calendar. Please reach out to your child’s teacher to see which options are in place for that class.
I have also included the updated flowcharts for you to refer to refer to when you have a child at home with symptoms COVID At Home Protocol-01-05-2022 or what happens when a child becomes ill at school COVID At School or Child Care Protocol-01-05-2022
Please be sure to keep students with symptoms at home so that we do not need to contact you to return to pick your child up and will also prevent exposure to others in the school
Please reach out to your child’s teacher or call the office at 905 522-9690 if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support,
Mr, Carey,
Principal
