Children’s Christmas Celebration at Cathy Wever

On Thursday, December 12, students could be found socializing with volunteers and each other, while happily staring at their full plates of food in the Cathy Wever Elementary School gymnasium.

The Rotary Club of Hamilton raised funds to host their annual Children’s Christmas Celebration, where they served over 700 children traditional turkey or Halal turkey lunch with all the sides, entertainment and fun that come with the holiday season.

The Rotary Club of Hamilton not only raised the funds to run this event for the students, but also recruited all of the volunteers who helped to set up, serve and visit with the children. Whether the students wanted someone to talk to or needed someone to help cut up their food, the volunteers were there and brought a positive energy to the day!

The Rotary Club of Hamilton also partnered with GreenByte to generously provide 30 families with a computer for home! An additional basket of treats were also given to each classroom and every student at Cathy Wever even received new books, thanks to donations by the Hamilton Public Library.

Even Santa Clause made an appearance to talk to the students! This magical day brought smiles to the faces of the students at Cathy Wever and helped to fill their bellies.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped to make this day a reality.

The event started at 10:45 am and ran until around 1:30 pm.
