Bernie Custis Award Winners

Congratulations to our BCSS graduates! We hope to recognize this wonderful accomplishment at a formal celebration in the Fall. Below is a list of special award winners who we would like to honor and recognize at this time as they will be receiving their awards now to support them in their individual paths. Students are recognized for awards by meeting award criteria at either a system or school level. We are very proud of all of our BCSS Award winners and all of our graduates.

BCSS GRADUATION AWARDS

 Zoe Neudorf– BCSS Excellence in Leadership and Learning,Cando Spirit Award, presented by Cando Rail Services. Diplays Leadership, Work Ethic, Integrity, and responsibility. 

Tyler Murray– BCSS Excellence in Leadership and Learning Award 

Dakota Damery– BCSS Excellence in Leadership and Learning Award 

Ali Curri– BCSS Excellence in Leadership and Learning Award 

Sanzid Chowdhury– The Bernie Custis Secondary School Award– awarded to a student that demonstrates the school culture code.

Alexis Vanderburgh– George R Parke Award- awarded to a top athlete in the school. 

Alexander Samontry– George R Parke Award- awarded to a top athlete in the school. 

Kohill BrapagaranMackesy Smye Law Award- awarded to the top law student in the school. 

Logan Barrick – Dumfries Insurance Award 

Kevin Ngo– Dr. Harry Paikin Memorial –awarded to a student who has received high marks in English throughout high school.  

James Speakman– Janet and Margreta Snell Award-  awarded to students who have continued with French and English, maintaining a high average, throughout high school.  

Chelsea Opperman– Janet and Margreta Snell Award- awarded to students who have continued with French and English, maintaining a high average, throughout high school. 

Nicole Moffatt– Janet and Margreta Snell Award- awarded to students who have continued with French and English, maintaining a high average, throughout high school. 

Abigail Martin– Jim and Jo Russell Memorial – awarded to a top drama student in the high school. 

  • Joshua Moxham Creative Writing Award – awarded to a top student in Writer’s Craft. 

Hailee MacLeod– The Laura Miller Public Speaking Award 

Besart Lajci– The Walter Gasparik Memorial – awarded to a top student in the area of mathematics who displays a good work ethic and a positive attitude.

Thao NguyenPaardeburg-Janet Bell Award- awarded to a top art student  

Reith Szeles   – Visual Art Trust Fund Award- awarded to an outstanding art student 

Madison Emsley– Visual Art Trust Fund Award- awarded to an outstanding art student 

Gianna Blacklock– Visual Art Trust Fund Award- awarded to an outstanding media arts student 

Lyana Sadcoy– Visual Art Trust Fund Award- awarded to an outstanding in Technological Design 

Thomas Laffin– Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Hamilton and District Home Builders Association Award- awarded to a student with high achievement in Technological studies 

Matthew KirchinBCSS Welding Award- top student in manufacturing 

Mara Provo– John H Clark Technical Award- awarded to a student with high academic achievement and commitment.

Vanessa Sears–     SHSM Health and Wellness Award 

Aliyah Vollick–     SHSM Construction Award 

Diana Buston–     Charity of Hope Award- awarded to a student who has excelled in working with  

children. 

Kaleb Cote– PATH to the Future Award
