Balaclava Update – Week of May 19 to 23

A reminder to everyone that there is no school on Monday as we are closed for the Victoria Day holiday. Enjoy your long weekend!

Our K to 3 students are still working on their skipping skills in preparation for our Jump Rope for Heart event on June 23rd. For more information about the event or to donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, please go to:  https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/86201

This week, our grade 3 and 6 students will continue writing their EQAO tests during class time.

Our Senior Swim team have had their swim meet re-scheduled (again!) for this Wednesday. Hopefully with a change in venue, there will not be any further delays for this long awaited meet. Good luck to the team and MANY thanks to the parents and family members who have supported multiple attempts at getting to this meet with transportation and cheerleading.

Our grade 7 and 8 classes will head to Toronto on Thursday to watch a Toronto Blue Jays game.

And of course, Thursday May 22nd is also the long-awaited Home and School Association Fun Fair here at Balaclava! We are looking forward to welcoming families, volunteers and the community for a fun-filled event from 4:30 to 7 p.m.  We will open up parking on the bus-field blacktop area to help accommodate more vehicles. Please note that Our Lady of Mount Carmel School next door also has an in-school event on and parking there may be limited. Please do not park in their fenced-in parking lot because these gates will be locked at 6:30. and your vehicle could be stuck inside for the night. Thank you to all of our families, volunteers and of course, the hard-working Fun Fair Committee for all of their efforts to put on a fabulous event. We can’t wait!
