Balaclava School Update for March 31 to April 4

Balaclava Gives Back in a Fun Way

From April 1st to April 25th, we will be collecting boxes of cereal for our spring food drive. For this unique drive, we are asking only for cereal – which will be donated to the Flamborough Food Back – to create the biggest domino run we’ve ever seen here! Here’s how it works:

-students can bring in a box (or multiple boxes) of non-expired cereal to donate between April 1st and April 25th

-the last week of April, our student leadership food driver team will set all of the boxes up for a huge domino run. All of our classes will be invited to watch the finished product attempt to be knocked down .

-students will receive one ticket for every box of cereal they bring in

-all of the tickets will go into a random draw. The winner of the random draw will be the person who will start our domino run by knocking over the first box!

The Flamborough Food Bank appreciates the support from the families of Balaclava School. We are excited to show them how much cereal we can bring in for this novel experience in April.

Checkers Tournament

Good luck to our grade 3 to 8 Checkers team who will head to the board-wide tournament this week to test their skills against players from around the board. Thank you to all of our volunteers and volunteer drivers – we appreciate your help!
