Balaclava School Update – Week of December 2
We only have three weeks of school in the month of December, but we will be keeping busy during those weeks.
Our first Lockdown drill last week went well – all of our students and staff capably followed the expected routines.
This week we are collecting items to donate to the Flamborough Food Bank. Students can bring in donations until December 13th. Donation boxes are in every classroom and in the office. The food bank identifies the following items as most needed: rice, canned meat, pasta sauce, canned chili/stew, broth, canned/boxed potatoes, canned fruit, toilet paper, Boost or Ensure. Thank you for considering donating to this local community endeavour.
On Wednesday, our grade 3 to 5 students are participating in a Knights in the Classroom program here in the school. It looks like it will be an amazing learning experience for them.
A reminder that all students go outside almost every day (we have very few inclement weather days) – every student needs to come to school prepared each day for outdoor time. Dress for the weather, please!
Speaking of weather, every student looks forward to the idea of school snow days but we know how challenging that can be for families. Please see the HWDSB information regarding inclement weather days: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/severe-weather/
