Balaclava School Update – Week of June 16 to 20

This will be our last full week of school for the 2024-2025 school year. It’s hard to believe the year is coming to a close so soon.

This week our Grade 8 students have a number of things to remember. On Monday, the commencement lawn signs will go home with grade 8 students. On Wednesday, they will participate in their Commencement rehearsal here at the school from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.. It is really important that all grade 8 students are here so they will be ready for their Commencement. Finally the Commencement for Grade 8 students and their families will be here at the school on Thursday evening. Congratulations to all of our Grade 8 students – we are so proud of all of you!

On Tuesday, our staff and senior students will battle it out on the ball diamond with our annual Staff vs Students Baseball game, with our other classes coming out to watch and cheer on their favourite team.

On Thursday, the Grade 3 to 5 Track and Field team will head to their meet in the city. Good luck to all of our athletes.

We are beginning to encourage students to gradually take home all of their treasures at school so items aren’t forgotten on the exciting last few days of school. If your child needs some extra reminders to get them organized, I encourage you to start issuing those this week. Cleaning out lockers, desks, cubbies, and back packs and checking the lost and found frequently to make room for the last minute items that will come home the last week may help ease the transition back home.
