Balaclava Update – Week of May 12 2025

Thank you to all of the families who came out to support our Scholastic Book Fair, Open House and Kindergarten Orientation this past week. It was wonderful to see so many families in the school.

This upcoming week marks the start of our spring set of emergency drills. Over the next several weeks we will conduct one Bomb Threat Emergency Drill (week of May 12) and three Fire Drills (weeks of June 2, 9 and 16th), as per the requirement of our Fire Safety procedures. Staff will work with students to ensure their understanding of procedures from different areas of our school. The specific timing of each drill depends largely on weather conditions. If you have any questions about our safety drill procedures, please feel free to contact [email protected]

Monday is the Home and School Association Pasta Day. Students are reminded to pack a fork if they ordered a pasta lunch.

On Tuesday, a large group of our grade 4 to 8 students have signed up to attend the Forge FC game. Buses will return at approximately 2 p.m. Students who ordered pizza will receive it when they return to the school. Grade 4 to 8 students who are not attending the trip will be supervised at the school by a teacher for the day.

On Wednesday our co-ed senior hockey team will play in their tournament. Good luck, team!

A reminder to all of our families about morning drop off. Students are not supervised by school staff until the 9 a.m. preparation for entry bell rings. If families are dropping off their child before that time, please ensure you continue to supervise them until a staff member comes out on duty. Thank you.
