Balaclava School Update Week of April 21

We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend. A reminder that there is no school Friday April 18th or Monday April 21st. We’ll see you back here on Tuesday April 22nd.

This upcoming week is Earth Week. Our students and classes will participate in different events in their classes and around our school this week to help support their understanding of how to take care of our planet.

• On April 22nd, our classes will be watching environmental awareness videos to start the conversation in class about how we can help the Earth,
• On April 23rd, each of our classes will participate in a School Yard Clean Up
• On April 24th, all of our classes will participate in Earth hour from 2 until 3 where we will turn off classroom lights and electronics to learn how to be more mindful of energy use.
• On April 25th, our students will be encouraged to bring a litterless lunch to school and find solutions to packing up that don’t create more disposable waste.
• Individual classes may also explore learning about the environment in their classes this week.
