Balaclava School Update – Week of March 3

It’s the beginning of another new month. Our school year is speeding by!

This week our grade 3 and 4 students will participate in Mad Science activities on Wednesday.

Our junior (grade 7) girls and boys basketball teams are practicing in preparation for their seasons, which will begin right after March Break.

In addition to our regular snack program, on Wednesday, students will participate in the Great Big Crunch. This is a national endeavour to highlight the importance of school nutrition programs. We are very fortunate to receive funding from TasteBuds Hamilton to run our two day a week snack program at Balaclava.  Big thanks to Mrs. Nelligan for her organizing and food prep each week, as well as the helping hands of a number of our teachers to prepare snacks for our students on Mondays and Wednesdays.   For more information about this program see:  https://www.healthyschoolfood.ca/great-big-crunch

A reminder that Monday March 10 to Friday March 14 is March break and the school will be closed for the entire week. We’ll see you back March 17th.

Our second movie night of the year is approaching! On March 27th, we invite Balaclava students and families to attend Movie Night in our gym from 5 to 7 p.m. Parents/guardians – you are welcome to stay and watch the show but you are also welcome to leave your school kids to us and take in a quiet few hours! We’ll be showing Clifford the Big Red Dog. Purchase tickets in advance on School Cash Online.
