Balaclava School Update – Week of January 20 2025

PA Day Reminder

This week will be a short one for our students – a reminder to all families that Friday January 24th is a Professional Activity Day for educators and there is no school for students. Educators will use this time to begin writing K to 8 report cards, which will come home mid-February.

Clubs and Groups

Some new clubs and groups are in the process of starting up right now.

Coding club for grade 4 to 6 students is going to be run by Mrs. Hrycenko and Mr. Tudor. Sign up is by the library door.

The Drama club for grades 4 to 6 is run by Ms. Spada, Mrs. Hrycenko and Ms. Wynne. Listen to announcements for their meeting times at nutrition breaks.

The checkers club for grade 3 to 8 students is run by Mrs. Cassidy and meets at nutrition break on day 2.

The crib club for grade 3 to 8 is up and running with Mrs. Cassidy, Ms. Keyte and Mrs. Nelligan, also on day 2.

We’re excited to see what these club members learn during their coding/drama/checkers/crib time!

School Council Meeting

The Balaclava School Council will meet on Tuesday January 21st at 6 p.m. in the school library. Any parent/guardian of a current Balaclava student is welcome to attend. Minutes and agendas are posted on the school website under the heading “School Council”.
