Balaclava Update – Week of October 14

The stretch from the first day of school until Thanksgiving is an exciting whirlwind. I hope all of our Balaclava families enjoy this long weekend to rest and refresh.

This past week, all of our students participated in a Bus Safety Presentation. One item the presenters stressed that we have also heard from our bus drivers is that some of our bus students need the reminder to be at the bus stop in the morning 5-10 minutes before the official stop time. Students should be waiting at the stop when the bus arrives to ensure the bus maintains it’s schedule and stops on our roads for the minimum amount of time. Thank you for helping your child get organized in the morning so they are ready when that bus comes to the stop.

A reminder that there is no school on Monday, October 14th because of Thanksgiving.

The Home and School Association food days begin this week – Pizza on Tuesdays (second nutrition break) and Sub Day (this week)/Booster Juice Day (next week). Thank you to all of the families who ordered on Cheddar Up and thank you to our Home and School team and volunteers who bring this service to you each week. Our students love the food days!

Wednesday October 16th is photo day. We start with our youngest classes in the morning and work our way up the grades throughout the day. If your child is unable to attend school on Wednesday, please note that a photo retake day is scheduled for November 20th.

Mrs. McIntosh, our music teacher, is still signing students up for the intermediate band. Students who wish to be part of this group may speak to Mrs. McIntosh.
