Balaclava Update – Week of September 30
A whole month of school over like that! Here are some updates for the week of September 30 to October 4.
Monday September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In schools, we recognize this day as Orange Shirt Day. If you can, please have your child wear an orange shirt on Monday as we learn about the history of residential schools, as well as efforts of Truth and Reconciliation in age-appropriate ways in our classes.
Our Senior Boys 3 Pitch team will play in their re-scheduled tournament on Tuesday. Good luck, boys!
Please come and Meet the Teacher on Thursday October 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Weather permitting, we’ll be out on the playground. A reminder that if it makes your lives easier on a busy evening, we have pizza dinners available for pre-order only on School Cash Online. Sunday is the last day to get those pizza orders in.
The always highly anticipated Scholastic Book Fair is here this week too. The book fair will be open on Thursday October 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for all your book shopping. This fundraiser provides funds that go right back into books to be purchased for the school library. Thanks for your support.
October 5 is World Teacher Day internationally every year. We are very fortunate to have such fabulous teachers, early childhood educators, educational assistants and resource personnel to support our students at Balaclava.
We have conducted 2 of our 3 fall fire drills successfully so far. Our last one is scheduled for sometime this week, when weather permits.
Coming soon – Spirit wear returns to Balaclava. Information will come home soon if you wish to order any Balaclava clothing items this fall.
