Balaclava Update – Week of September 16 to 20
This year, to help support families with more timely communication regarding school activities, the plan is to post each Friday an update for the following week. Balaclava is an exciting place to be and there is always something happening!
Friday September 20th is a Professional Activity Day, which means there is no school for students. Educators and education staff will be working during the day completing health and safety compliance training and engaging in professional collaboration and learning about topics of student achievement and well being.
Currently, staff are working with students on the following extracurricular activities: Grade 3-5 swimming (starting week of September 23), Junior and Senior 3 Pitch for Girls and Boys (tournaments week of September 23) and Grade 3-8 Cross Country running (early October). Thank you to our coaches, volunteers, drivers and cheerleaders as we support our students.
The Balaclava Tuck Shop is back! Students in grades 1 to 8 are welcome to bring in money to buy items that meet nutritional policy for $1 or $2 daily during second nutrition break. All funds raised from this endeavour will be used to support our School Snack Program.
Families: don’t forget to go into the Parent Portal section called Permissions and Forms to complete yearly permissions for each child. If you need assistance, please feel free to call Mrs. Nelligan in the school office for support.
Looking Ahead: Our Meet the Teacher event will be on Thursday October 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. We’re looking forward to greeting many families. If you are interested in purchasing pizza for dinner, please use School Cash Online by September 27th.
