A Great Start to the 2024-2025 School Year!
We have had a great first day at Balaclava!
It was wonderful to see so many smiling students (and families!) at our entry time this morning. Those good vibes continued through the school all day.
Some students may take some time to adjust to their new classes, classmates, teachers and routines. Being open to change and making new friends is all part of the important growth process in school. Please feel free to let your child’s teacher know over the next few weeks if they are having a difficult time adjusting to the school year and we’ll work with your child to formulate some strategies to support him/her. It is important to note that changes to class assignments are not being made at this time. If our school requires ministry-directed re-organization in October, students impacted by that re-organization will be contacted in late September.
The new policy around the use of personal devices will take some getting used to for all of us, but we are off to a good start. Thank you to all of our families for supporting your child in keeping any personal devices off/on silent and out of sight throughout the school day. Students who need to contact their parent/guardian or families who need to contact their child during the school day will need to go through the school office.
Transportation often has some delays in the fall as drivers and students get used to new routes. If your child is riding the school bus, we encourage families to sign up on the Transportation website for notification when delays occur. We appreciate your patience as all of the kinks get worked out of the transportation schedule.
