December 10th Updates

Each year we are required to practice procedures in the event of an emergency. In the fall term we practiced 3 Fire Drills. Next week we will be holding our first Lockdown Drill. This drill will be announced for students/staff and will not be a surprise. We will follow all Covid protocols as required by the HWDSB and Public Health to conduct this drill safely. Parents/caregivers can support students in understanding the purpose of these drills is to make sure we all know what to do in the event of an emergency. One important reminder for all – that in the event of an emergency – cellphones are not to be used to communicate with parents/caregivers/students or anyone else as this could endanger everyone. We do expect all cellphones to be turned off and locked in lockers throughout the day if brought to school. If your child carries a cellphone to school, please remind them of this expectation. Thank you.

As we prepare for winter holidays students will be given opportunity to look for any missing clothing items that have collected over the past few weeks. We will be asking students to take home all personal belongings when we leave on December 17th.

Thank you to the families who have sent in grocery gift cards and or restaurant gift cards. Amounts can be between $5 – $25. These gifts will be added to the Holiday Hampers being distributed to HWDSB families through our board Social Work Department. We appreciate your help in making the world a little brighter and better for others.

Resources to support parents/caregivers.

When we return in the New Year we will be required once again to verify screening was passed each day just as we did at the beginning of this year. Your child will carry home a calendar for these purposes on Tuesday December 14th (along with the Rapid Antigen Testing kit). We ask that you please sign the calendar each day to confirm your child passed their screening and send it to school each day with them. Thank you for your cooperation.
