Update for Families September 24th

As we head into the second month of school we want to take this opportunity to thank all our families for their support with the school start up procedures. We appreciate receiving the updated verification forms, media consent forms and early closure forms on the Parent Portal as soon as possible. Some of this is important information in the event of an emergency.

Thank you also for taking care to complete the daily screening and confirming it in writing using the monthly calendar sent home on the first day of school. We have been asked by Public Health to continue this practice a little longer. In the event you forget you will be contacted and asked to confirm. Thank you for your cooperation.

Once again this year, when a student has been absent from school due to illness an attestation is required to return to in person learning. Attestation for Return to School-Childcare_HWDSB-HWCDSB Please print and return this form with you child on their first day back to school or email to [email protected]. Thank you.

Every September the HWDSB must reconcile spring enrolment projections with actual fall attendance which sometimes results in either adding or losing classes. This year we are not changing the number of classes (15 Total). The classes that were added in June (Mrs. Harris)  and in September (Ms. Spada) had to be staffed with Long Term Occasional Teachers and may be reassigned permanent teachers as part of the HWDSB re-organization process. If this occurs, we will advise families of the new staff members early next week.

Earlier this month we sent, via School Messenger, a letter welcoming nominations for our 2021-2022 School Council. If you are a parent/caregiver in our community and would like to join School Council as a voting member, or an attendee please complete the nomination form and return it to [email protected]. (no experience required). Our first meeting is planned for October 5th at 6:00 p.m. on MS Teams (Invite to follow for those who indicate an interest in attending).

To the secret gardener – THANK YOU! It was so lovely to see our front garden so well cared for, upon our return to school. Your efforts were noticed and appreciated.

Families interested in accessing violin/cello instruction for the 2021-2022 school year can find information about this program here: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/blog/registration-open-elementary-strings-violin-and-cello-program/

Thank you for your continued support.
