Staff Farewell

Dear Greenleaf families,

We hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. We cannot say thank you enough to all of our community members for your continued support as we navigate the school year together.

We have two staff farewells to share with the community.

First, on December 18^th, we will be saying farewell to our fabulous Head Custodian, Mr. Zess, as he retires from HWDSB.

Mr. Zess has been at Greenleaf since the school opened in 2000.  He is a cornerstone of our community, always going above and beyond to keep our school clean and safe. Especially in this last stretch, with the implementation of so many new health and safety protocols, he continues to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to keeping our building at its best. While we can’t imagine Greenleaf without him, we wish him all the best as he looks forward to this next chapter in his journey. On behalf of our school community, please join me in thanking Mr. Zess for everything that he has done for us and congratulating him on his upcoming retirement!

Second, on December 18^th, we will be saying farewell to our wonderful Vice-Principal, Ms. Barlow. Ms. Barlow joined our school in February 2019, and has had a significant impact on our school community over the last two years. She cares deeply about staff, students and our community, and we will all miss her and her leadership a great deal. Beginning in January 2021, Ms. Barlow will be serving as the Vice-Principal and On-site Administrator at Strathcona Elementary School. On behalf of our school community, please join me in thanking Ms. Barlow for her outstanding service and leadership and wishing her all the best at her new school!

I am pleased to welcome our new Vice-Principal, Ms. Johnson. Ms. Johnson will be joining our school community on January 4^th, 2021. Ms. Johnson currently serves as a Reading Specialist at Winona Elementary School. Ms. Johnson is thrilled to be joining our team at Greenleaf, and we look forward to welcoming her in the new year.
