Halloween Celebrations

Halloween is an exciting time for most children. To ensure everyone is able to participate and feel safe, we ask the following:

1)  No masks, other than medical masks if your child prefers to wear one.

2) No inflatable costumes.  Inflatable costumes are cumbersome and inhibit movement.

3) No weapons of any kind. Replica weapons are not permitted.

When selecting your child’s costume please consider the following questions:

• Is my costume making fun of a group of people, their culture, religion and/or belief systems?
• Does my costume reinforce jokes and stereotypes about certain groups, cultures, religions and/or
belief systems?
• Am I altering my skin color, facial/body features to make it like a particular race, ethnicity, or cultural
group?
• Am I dressing up as a culture or borrowing from a religion that is not my own or is not part of my
background?

Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding in-class celebrations.  We are a nut safe school so please refrain from sending any products that may contain nuts or allergens.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.
