End of School Year Letter

Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Dear Adelaide Hoodless School Family,

Happy last day of school!  Today is the first last day of school we have had since June 2019.  For those of you with children in Kindergarten, this is your first “real” last day.  Who knew in June 2019 what the last few years would have looked like.  Our resilience and strength as a community helped us get through these challenging times.

We have a number of staff who are moving on to new opportunities within our school board.  Paul Zadvorny, our ESST, has been promoted to Vice-Principal and will be shared between Memorial and Chedoke.  Julia Redekop (FSL) is moving to a grade 6 French Immersion position at Flamborough Centre. Bikina Thapa, Educational Assistant, has been successful in obtaining a CYCP position.  Laney Cryderman, DECE, is moving to a new position at Bennetto Elementary School.

We would also like to say goodbye and good luck to a number of occasional staff who have supported us over the year:

  • Jansen – Grade 1 (Ms. Kee-Rygus)
  • Burke – FDK 9E (Ms. Roczniak/Ms. Molinaro)
  • Thomas – Grade 8 (Mr. Kotsiou)
  • Blackwood – Educational Assistant
  • Collard – FDK Release (Ms. Tisma)
  • Morgenstern – Floater LTO
  • Kleinschmidt – Floater LTO

The above staff have had such a positive impact on the students and school community.

We would like to welcome a number of new staff who will be joining our Adelaide family in September:

  • McEhleron – FSL grades 4-8
  • MacLeod – ESST
  • Demmery – DECE 9E
  • Blackwood – Educational Assistant (permanent)
  • Feenstra – Junior physical education (in addition to his current music assignment)

We will be interviewing for a number of open positions over the next few weeks and will share the names of the successful candidates once it has been determined.

These past few years have been extremely challenging.  However, the challenges presented by COVID-19 forced us to re-think how we do “education”.  Some of the changes we implemented because of COVID we will maintain into 2022, such as controlled entry and dismissal. The routines will be shared in late August or 2022.

On behalf of the staff at Adelaide Hoodless Elementary School I would like to thank all of you for your support and kindness.  Thank you as well for entrusting your children to us.  They are all truly wonderful humans and have impacted each of us.

Please have a safe and healthy summer.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back on September 6, 2022.

Respectfully,

Nanci-Jane Simpson – Principal
