Holiday Candy Gram Update

Good Morning Adelaide Hoodless Families,

Please see below for a letter from the Adelaide Hoodless Student Council.  I would like to thank Mr. Zadvorny and all of the students on Student Council for taking the time to reflect on this initiative and collectively determining to cancel it.

Dear Adelaide Hoodless Families,

The Student Council has had to make some adjustments to the Holiday Candy Gram fundraiser. Unfortunately, the fundraising event has been cancelled. At Adelaide, and with every initiative the Adelaide Student Council undertakes, we strive to meet the needs of all members of our community. Equity and inclusivity are always at the forefront of our conversations as we value the diversity and voice of each Adelaide community member. Unfortunately, our initial idea for the Holiday Candy Gram fundraiser was shortsighted, and not inclusive to everyone. We missed the mark and appreciate the opportunity to rework this festive initiative so that it can have a positive impact on everyone.

The Student Council considered many options/alternatives to the Holiday Candy Gram fundraiser but could not arrive at a solution at this time. Rather than fundraising and having students sending Holiday Candy Grams, the Student Council will be sending out a candy cane to each Adelaide student along with a holiday message. There is no cost associated with this for families.

The Student Council is made up of a dynamic group of young leaders whose enthusiasm is reflected in their want to bring fun and happiness to all Adelaide students. The Student Council is excited to continue planning fun events in 2022, and look forward to resuming fundraising initiatives in the New Year.

Thanks for your understanding,

The Student Council
