Letter for families re: student in distress

Student in Distress_Adelaide Oct 22

Dear families,

This letter is to let you know that a student experienced a period of distress at school today. Staff called for support and first responders arrived at the school. The student received support.

Some of our students witnessed this activity. We want to make you aware of this incident in case your child mentions it to you, or if you wish to have a family conversation about it.

If your child requires immediate support as a result of this incident, please contact me or speak with your child’s educator.

To seek help for themselves or for others, students can use the anonymous HWDSB Helps app. Students can text 905‐963‐0066, download the app for iOS and Android, or engage in the web chat at www.hwdsb.on.ca/hwdsbhelps.

We want you to know that student and staff health and safety is of the utmost importance at Adelaide Hoodless. In addition to the supports shared for students, support for staff is also available.

We thank Hamilton’s first responders for their efforts. We also thank the staff for their leadership and students for their cooperation.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Sincerely,

Nanci-Jane Simpson
Principal
