Letter to families about a distressed individual in the community

October 8, 2021

Dear Families,

This letter is to inform you about an incident that took place this morning at our school.

At approximately 8:35am, an individual in distress entered the playground. Students were immediately directed into the school. Police were called and supported the situation.

Your child may have witnessed this situation. We want to make you aware in the event your child raises this incident with you and to support family conversations about it. Parents are encouraged to reference our tips sheet on how to support children and youth in these situations: https://hwdsb.info/distressing

We want you to know that student and staff health and safety is of the utmost importance at Adelaide Hoodless.

We thank Hamilton Police Service for their efforts. We also thank the staff for their leadership and students for their cooperation.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Sincerely,

Nanci-Jane Simpson

Principal
