Canada 2070 Initiative Press Conference

Ideas of Tomorrow; Student Led Canada 2070 Initiative To Unveil Vision Of Canada’s Future

HAMILTON – A student led think tank has envisioned a bold future for Canada. The recommendations are the subjects of a website that will be unveiled at a press conference on Monday January 29th.

Challenged by the celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday the 2070 initiative group began pondering Canadian history. With the positives being in the limelight the group became interested in whether or not they should be celebrating the country at all. Over a six month period they uncovered the mistakes and the resolutions that had been forgotten.  The result is over 15 well formulated policy papers, and a group of like minded individuals who want more for this initiative and for this country. From that small idea until now, the group has formulated  a website, social media campaign, petitions and promotion for these policies ideas.

“Our main goal is to create a Canada that we and generations after us can appreciate and be proud of for decades to come,” said Kacie Phillippo, Head of the networking committee of the Canadian 2070 Initiative group.  “We identified topics that we are passionate about, and would like to improve in our country. With an image of our ideal 2070 imagined in our minds, we spent about 6 months working on our policy ideas. We would now like to share these projects with you,”

The Canada 2070 initiative will be holding a press conference at Westmount Secondary School on Monday, January 29th.  In this conference you are able to meet with the many great minds of the initiative. As well it will be the official unveiling of the website, consisting of policies, links to the social media campaigns and petitions.
